I’m really sad I couldn’t stay in Vietnam longer. But overall, Ho Chi Minh City / Saigon was really, really cool – Absolutely wild, definitely MAD, but cool. Cairo, (honestly, and unbiasedly) still takes the cake with crazy traffic, but Ho Chi Minh / Saigon is a very close runner up.
The amount of motorbikes/scooters is actually unbelievable.
I was on a bike taxi and at one point, there was a person coming at us from the opposite direction, from the right-hand side, from the left-hand side, behind us, and the upper left-hand corner. And they. Get. CLOSE.
Smh, I’m sick and I brushed up against like 10 different people – so sorry ladies and gents you touched a very germy person that day (read: literally my nose dripped onto my Banh Mi that day… TMI?)
My favorite thing about Ho Chi Minh / Saigon is all the buildings!
To be honest, I wish I would’ve gotten more pictures, but I was really paranoid about being robbed – l literally put my phone in my bra (TMI again?) I know that sounds a lil’ Extra, but even when I took this first picture – this little-old-local lady came up to me and made hand gestures to hide my phone.
Anyway, what was I saying? BUILDINGS, YES. All of the buildings have these open balconies and are painted a wide variety of lively colors.
Also, all the stores, cafes, and restaurants are just these tiny little squares – It’s very proportionate and condensed.
Speaking of cafes – VIETNAMESE COFFEE? CAN WE TAKE A MOMENT OF SILENCE? SOOOOO GOOD.
I’m on a man-hunt for Vietnamese coffee in Chiang Mai now. Don’t know what it is, it just tastes like heaven and it has to be the best coffee in the world. Write that on my grave.
