Here’s a beautiful pic to convince you guys to come to visit me, after ~this~ is over (I have a visa till January ‘21 so come hang people!!) 🚨
Here’s a simple update about the apocalypse in Thailand
The short version
1. YES, I’m safe. Mai Penrai Ka (Thai for “no worries”). We don’t fight over toilet paper in South East Asia… I mean sure we have guns too, but they’re bum guns.
2. The only people who are “freaking out” per se, are the people at the US Embassy who send American citizens daily emails like, “yOu mUsT lEaVe NoW oR bE tRapPeD 4eVr!!!!”
Long version
Schools got shut down over a week ago (I think, wow I can’t keep track now).
Following that – gyms, restaurants, and the malls closed. Right now, similar to back home, grocery stores and take away food are open INCLUDING Cafes so hey, if I’m caffeinated I’m doing okay.
The prime minister announced an emergency decree that began last Thursday – with this, all national parks shut down along with businesses that weren’t really following the rules before.
Also, he has the power now to implement a curfew at any time. Phuket (a region down south) just got a curfew today. Though there is a debate about whether masks work or not, we are required to wear one now in public.
As for daily life – I simply don’t remember what it’s like to not get my temperature checked everywhere I go. It’s been at least 95 degrees every day this past month, so I always panic before they check my temp.
Hope everyone is doing well. Don’t forget to spread love, not germs. Call your family and wash your hands.
