Simply putting it – Yoga in Thailand is BANANAS. What would be considered an advanced class back home is a novice class here. There are always new positions people try to contour you into it.
When I first started going, each new instructor thought it was my first time practicing yoga. I was probably 12 the first time I took a yoga class. Yes, Minnesota may have an enormous state fair built on the grounds of deep-fried batter and grease, but the fitness scene in the Twin Cities is no joke.
But the thing is – I guess I had been doing all the positions wrong for years. My friend Leigh really got me into yoga – She actually just left to go to India for an intensive yoga retreat if that says anything. Since she left, I’m going to have to keep my motivation up! I don’t know about you guys, but I always do better with a workout buddy.
Anyway, what’s crazy and actually a little sad is that now since I’m getting the right technique down – I’m slowly getting better at headstands, handstands, and bridges. AKA gaining skills that would’ve been very, very beneficial during my 14 years of dance. If you’re reading this and you ever danced with me, you know that I was the most gymnastically (is this a word?) challenged person ever.
Oh well that was a long time ago.
